Rothbury 2009 Update – Might Happen!

Many festival-goers have been on the edge of their seats waiting for the final decision on whether Rothbury would be happening in 2009. The ranch the festival has been held on, Double JJ Resort, recently has been going through a financial crisis making many believe Rothbury 2009 would not be possible. Bad financial decisions led to the ranch filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy after the ranch stacked up more than $22,000,000 in debt. While nothing is set in stone Bankruptcy Court Judge Scott W. Dales made a judgment on January 5th, 2009 that okayed a lease agreement with a Rothbury promoter and the bankruptcy trustee. This has given hope to the 40,000 fans that go to Rothbury every year. This lease agreement has given such hope that fans of Rothbury are now speculating what acts will be appearing at Rothbury 2009. Names that some enthusiasts have been throwing around are Phish, Tom Petty, Coldplay, String Cheese Incident, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, Mastodon, The Roots, The White Stripes and even Prince. Rothbury 2009 is also being speculated to be held on the weekend of July 2-5. A bankruptcy hearing was scheduled for January 8th but there has so far been no word on the outcome. After the decision made on the 8th is released to the public then fans will know for sure if they should start preparing for Rothbury 2009.

So what bands do you think will be there for sure? Please leave your thoughts in the comments below. I’d say a few givens are Umphrey’s McGee, STS9, String Cheese Incident, maybe moe., and Bassnectar hopefully. Hopefully we can all have another amazing fourth of July weekend that we’ll remember for years to come.
